Service & Outreach

Service & Outreach

We are all called to use our gifts to serve and to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world today. First Christian dedicates a significant portion of our ministry budget to helping ministries in our own community and around the world, and we pursue mission and service opportunities both near and far.

For example, we have a large community garden on the front of our property. (Check it out next time you come by 1030 College Drive in Madisonville; you can see it from the street!) All the food grown in the garden is donated to the
Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County. Here are some of the other places that First Christian pitches in with energy, money or both to God’s work in the world:

  • Habitat for Humanity Pennyrile Region, which brings people together to build homes, communities and hope
  • Week of Compassion, which fuels disaster relief and preparedness, refugee and immigrant care and sustainable development globally
  • Backpack Blessings, which works to keep local elementary students from going hungry on the weekends and remove barriers to their academic success
  • Camp Kum-Ba-Ya, which hosts church camps, retreats and other gatherings on 45 wooded acres on Kentucky Lake

You are invited to join any of our ministries that serve to strengthen all God's children. Call the church office at (270) 821-5335 to learn more.
